Midge

Midges are the pollinators of cacao trees from the genus Forcipomyia. This is an electron microscope view of a specimen I have.

They are tiny flies, about the size of a fruit fly. They grow in the decomposing debris around the trees, and pollinate the cacao flowers as they fly up and around the trees.
