Honoka’a is a unique and wonderful bean to bar establishment. Not only do they make their own hand crafted bean to bar chocolate, but they also share a deeper appreciation of chocolate. They grow their own cacao on the Big Island of Hawaii, for which they ferment, dry, roast, and use to make their own tree-to-bar chocolate! They also source other fair trade cacao from various origins around the world to share with locals along side their own Hawaii origin bars.
Making bean to bar chocolate, and doing it well, is a feat in itself. Growing the cacao and fermenting it is another level of skill. They even share their passion and talent in the way of tours on their beautiful farm as well.
Along wit their Hawaii and other single origin bars, they also make a drunken goat milk bar with barrel aged nibs. They call this a gourmet “
Rolo” chocolate, but with pure simple powerfully flavoured ingredients instead!
It’s wonderful to see such a passionate small business work so hard and create such beautiful chocolate in such a down to earth and harmonious way.
