Aztec Drinking Chocolate

A shot of this will deliver a punch of flavour! Probably why my tastings guests make funny faces when they first taste it.

People often think that the authentic and original chocolate must have been pretty divine. Much better than any bar you can get in the grocery store today. Truth is, there were no chocolate bars in Mesoamerica. The Mayans, The Aztecs, The Olmecs.. none of them ate chocolate bars. They drank it! Chocolate was a drink, like coffee or tea. Sure, cacao was used as an ingredient in some foods (just like we do coffee and tea), but chocolate was a drink, and a drink unlike you ever experienced.
